Kate has been an architect with us since 1992 and is an associate in our Vancouver studio. Kate's extensive history of working on multi-faceted municipal, arts, and educational projects has resulted in many award-winning designs. She has received recognition for her work on Richmond, BC's City Hall, the Canadian Broadcast Corporation's redevelopment project in downtown Vancouver, and the Nest at UBC (the new student union building.) Kate has steered numerous complex and diverse teams through the design process and loves to see a project go from concept to completion.
Kate is skilled at creating both aesthetically beautiful and functional designs for exterior and interior spaces. Her exceptional work is best showcased in the Shipyards mixed-use project in North Vancouver, Kelowna's Rotary Centre for the Arts, Dawson Creek's Calvin Kruk Centre for the Arts, and the West Vancouver Police Services and Municipal Hall project.
A devoted mentor, Kate enjoys collaborating with younger colleagues and sharing her extensive architectural experience with DIALOGers, students, and interns alike. She is an active member of Women in Architecture Vancouver, serving on both the programming and steering committees.
Kate has a passion for traditional music and dance as a way to understand and respect different cultural traditions. She plays in several different musical groups that specialize in the music of the Balkans.
I'm passionate about mentoring and nurturing the next generation of aspiring architects.Katherine (Kate) Gerson
